Recipe costing calculator

For homemade brands, bakeries and caterers who want a clear make-cost in rupees before they set a price. Add ingredients, batch extras and yield — see total cost, cost per unit and a suggested selling price. Refresh clears everything.

Ingredients

Type an ingredient name (2+ letters) to pick a starter pack — cost, size and unit fill in; edit them to what you pay. Sample below is a small besan laddu batch (15 pieces).

  • Line cost: ₹33.00

  • Line cost: ₹12.00

  • Line cost: ₹41.60

  • Line cost: ₹34.00

Batch extras

Labour and packaging for this batch. Wastage covers trim and spoilage. Overhead is optional (rent, gas). Shipping and tax are left out — those belong on the order, not the make-cost.

Suggested sell is per unit (cost × multiple). Your selling price is for the whole yield — we split it by yield for profit and margin. 2.5× is only a starting hint.

Common questions

How does the recipe costing calculator work?

Enter each ingredient’s pack price and pack size, then how much of that pack the recipe uses (same unit). Add labour, packaging and optional wastage or overhead. The tool totals the batch, divides by yield for cost per unit, and multiplies by a price multiple for a suggested sell per unit. Your selling price is what you charge for the whole batch; profit and margin are worked from that. Shipping and tax are not included — those sit on the order when you sell.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. Refresh the page and the numbers clear.

What is wastage percent?

A simple uplift on ingredient cost for trim, spoilage or spillage. For example 5% means you treat ingredients as 5% more expensive than the exact amount used.

What selling-price multiple should I use?

There is no single right answer. Many small food businesses start around 2–3× make-cost and then adjust for what customers will pay, competition and how much leftover they need after delivery and GST. The multiple here is only a hint.

How is this different from AdugeOps?

This page is a free, one-off calculator. AdugeOps is the kitchen board for orders, recipes, stock and payments — so prices and recipes can live next to each other instead of disappearing on refresh. Request access if you want that.

Want this next to your recipes?

This calculator forgets everything on refresh. AdugeOps keeps orders, recipes and stock on one board so ingredient prices and make-cost can sit beside the food you actually sell. Request access and we’ll email your invite.
